The categorized layout with Payer/Payee, Transaction category and Transaction details is detected automatically and seeds the vendor, account and memo;
a detail like Nov-25 Rent also tags the deposit to that rent month. Convert Bank of America exports to this layout first.

Mortgage
The draft is a single PITI payment. Split it on the transaction so interest, principal, taxes and insurance land in the right accounts. Principal splits are what reduce the loan.
Projected balance

override the projectionTax & insurance escrow
The escrow portion of each mortgage draft goes here when you split the payment. When the lender pays the
tax or insurance bill out of it, add a transaction with Paid from set to
Tax & Insurance Escrow and the category set to Insurance or Property Taxes.
That records the deduction without pretending cash left the operating account.
Depreciation register

Schedule E line 18 as deductedDepreciation is never a bank transaction. Whatever is recorded here flows into the profit and loss, Schedule E line 18, and the depreciation taken to date that recapture is computed on at sale.
Leases
Rent overrides
when a month differs from the lease rentBank accounts
Mark an account as a property account when it is the operating account. A personal account still
records property expenses, but the funding side posts to owner contributions instead of cash.
Clear holds cash for a balance someone else holds on your behalf, such as the lender's tax and
insurance escrow: it can fund a transaction, but paying out of it is not a cash movement and never appears on the
cash flow statement.
Filed years
Schedule E, Part I, as filedEnter figures exactly as filed. A year set to the filed return is read-only in reports and is never mixed with imported transactions. Switch a year to the ledger once its transactions are in and reconciled; the filed figures stay here either way, so you can switch back.
Database
Saves write data/kingsboro.sqlite through the local server and keep the previous copy in data/backups/. Nothing leaves this machine. Ctrl+S forces a save.
Danger zone
Both require typed confirmation and cannot be undone except by restoring a backup.
